Deburring
The Deburring Department is responsible for producing the fine cosmetic finishes that DSM is famous for. The punching and machining operations performed in other departments produce sharp edges and burrs that must be removed for safety.
An important piece of equipment is the Wastewater Pretreatment System. This clay flocculating system removes nearly all heavy metals, oils, and pollutants from our discharge water flow. The vibratory tumblers and vacuum systems on the sanding equipment use quite a bit of water. The Metro Waste Water Department approved our sewer discharge.
Personal equipment used includes safety glasses, safety shoes, gloves, hearing protection, breathing respirators, aprons, and helmet when driving the forklift.
Inspection equipment used includes verniers, micrometers, inspection sample chips, squares, height gages, and tape measures.
